Alec was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We learned so much about Edinburgh history and he gave us some great recommendations about things to do after his tour. Edinburgh history walk

Alec was awesome. His knowledge of the history of Edinburgh and Scotland is endless. He was extremely friendly and kept us entertained throughout the entire tour. Everyone enjoyed the food selections, most of which we would never have tried on our own. Very knowledgeable.

We spent an afternoon with Alec getting an introduction to Edinburgh. Within 20 minutes of starting, we knew it was gonna be an amazing tour. Alec had a wonderful mix of history, culture and personal stories. You could feel his love for his city. We were entranced with both the city and Alec and left knowing we have to come back to Edinburgh and would love to spend more time with Alec exploring the country. Recommend 10/10!!GREAT guide

Our time with Alec was really well spent! We got to try some haggis and other local comfort foods. He was extremely accommodating when asked to also include some vegetarian fare for my daughter. The tour while described as a food tour was really more than that as we also got info on history and some interesting stories. Alec is very personable and well traveled. We had a great time and would highly recommend!!Great time with some great food

We tasted three Scottish dishes including haggis, pies, and a deep fried delicacy. Between these stops we were treated to a brilliant tour of sites in Edinburgh. Alec is a great guide and explained the history, the unique geography and food of Edinburgh. I highly recommend this tour. Fantastic tour!!

Alec was a sterling storyteller who made our experience of Edinburgh come to life in HD! Learning about is history, and his history with the city, made for a superb afternoon. But 4 pre-teens are the best critics. Each of our youngsters, unprompted, said how much they enjoyed their time with Alec. “He made us feel like one of the grown ups, but still made it fun for us kids.” Same applies to the grown ups. Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, beside the amazing architecture, history and stories are the very important part of its character so the proper walking tour with the local tour guide is the best way to experience this beautiful city. Our tour guide Alec was a good storyteller and very knowledgeable. We had so much fun walking and talking and learning about all aspects of Edinburgh. I highly recommend him :) Magical city

Alec hat mit uns Vieren eine tolle Tour durch die Stadt gemacht. Er hat uns viele Sehenswürdigkeiten gezeigt und viel Wissenswertes erzählt. Typisch schottisches Essen gab es natürlich auch. Eine sehr schöne Tour!Wunderschönes Edinburgh

Alec has a wonderful way of relaying the history of Edinburgh while interspersing interesting & humorous anecdotes. The 3 hours flew by. We lucked out with a clear blue sky which made it all the more enjoyable when he took us to some beautiful viewpoints of the city. We highly recommend this tour with Alec. I can not recommend Alec and his hidden gems tour enough. He had the hard task of impressing my three teenagers and deftly managed to balance impressive broad historical points (including a sense of scale that resonated with the kids) with fun quirky facts and personal anecdotes which captivated the teens. We did this walking tour with Alec on November 25, 2023. What a fabulous time we had. Alec is very knowledgeable about all of Edinburgh and a great historian. He even added in some recommendations for tastes of Edinburgh we could try later (He does food tours, too). Our tour with Alec was amazing! He’s very knowledgeable of the city plus he is a great storyteller! The cherry on the top is that he himself grew up in Edinburgh and has countless stories of his own past that really speak to everything the city has to offer. He’s lived and breathed this city, and you feel that from his tales. Got me eating haggis as well, which was actually quite delicious! We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend a tour with Alec!The city comes to life!

We met Alec on the Royal Mile for a wonderful day of exploration and information gathering. Alec is a lovely soul, who has a great passion for Edinburgh and Scotland. He is charming, communicative and very easy to be with. We booked a food tasting tour, but experienced so much more. If we return to Edinburgh, we will definitely contact Alec.
